PRIMAVERA: A HAIKU BY AMRIT DISHA
OBJECTIVE
This project involved designing an 8-page booklet that visually and abstractly expressed a haiku (a 3-line poem following a 5-7-5 syllable pattern) using line, shape, and typography. Focusing on clarity and harmony, the layout was crafted to capture the poem’s tone and theme, with each page contributing to a unified visual flow.

GRAPHIC IDEATION
The design process began by combining organic shapes to form flowers, but they lacked room for interpretation. Ultimately, the most abstract graphics (far right) were utilized to evoke the illusion of growth in the spring.
DIGITAL ITERATIONS
REFINED ITERATIONS
(Changes highlighted above)
The development of this haiku carefully examined the use of white space to improve legibility and guide focus to the key message: the poetry. Graphic elements were strategically scaled; some were scaled back to encourage the eye to move across the page, while others were scaled up to introduce visual contrast and surprise upon turning the page. Line breaks were altered, angles were refined, and shapes were repeated to create consistency and cohesion, enhancing the overall visual rhythm.
