ANIMAL WORDMARK
OBJECTIVE
This project centers on creating a stylized animal icon from a source photo, intertwining it with a phrase that complements the icon's meaning. Through non-photographic image-making and expressive typography, the project explores the interaction between visual form and language, crafting compositions where the phrase supports and enhances the animal icon's identity.

GRAPHIC IDEATION
This design started by constructing the horse form with straight lines and circles of varying scales to build the structure of the icon. Once the outlines were defined, the shape was filled to reveal the initial draft of the animal figure.
TYPOGRAPHY
Careful research into typefaces was conducted to find an ideal pairing for the horse icon, emphasizing heavy display fonts that create high contrast and evoke shadow-like qualities in alignment with the phrase "like a shadow in the night."
DIGITAL ITERATIONS
As the iterations progress, the typography becomes more cohesive, with overlapping forms and strategic use of bold and condensed text to create a clear visual hierarchy. The interaction between type, shape, and the black stallion icon generates tension, guiding the viewer's eye smoothly through the composition while improving legibility and balance.
REFINED ITERATIONS
After the final submission, the project was redesigned to further incorporate Bauhaus principles, utilizing leading lines to enhance movement and a bold, iconic typeface to strengthen visual impact. This approach better emphasizes the accompanying quote, creating a more cohesive design with the same icon.
