ANIMAL_WORDMARK_
:OBJECTIVE
This project centers on creating an animal icon from a source photo and combining it with a phrase that complements the icon's meaning. The project explores the interaction between visual form and typography, crafting compositions where the phrase supports and enhances the animal icon's identity.
"Like a shadow in the night, black stallion moves with effortless grace"
:GRAPHIC IDEATION
This design started by constructing the horse form with straight lines and circles of varying scales to build the structure of the icon, which were later filled to reveal the animal form.
:TYPOGRAPHY
I researched heavy display fonts to create high contrast and evoke shadow-like qualities in alignment with the phrase "like a shadow in the night."
:DIGITAL ITERATIONS
As the iterations progress, the typography becomes more cohesive, using overlapping forms and bold text to create a clear visual hierarchy. The interactions between type, shape, and the icon generates tension, guiding the viewer's eye smoothly through the composition while improving legibility and balance.
:REFINED ITERATIONS
After the final submission, I redesigned this project to further incorporate Bauhaus principles, utilizing leading lines to enhance movement and a bold, iconic typeface to strengthen visual impact.
This approach better emphasizes the accompanying quote, creating a more cohesive design with the same icon.
